Wedding Belle: Once Upon a Time, My Littlest Sister Got Married.
That was almost a week ago. A busy, hectic, still not caught up week ago (school already? yes indeedy. And I protest). The wedding ceremony was quiet and beautiful; the wedding party (and its belle) lovely, sweet, happy, slightly unruly, delicious, definitely unforgettable (which means memorable. I could have just written memorable. But I like unforgettable better. The end.)
As beautiful and unforgettable as the wedding party and wedding belle were, neither was Fairy Tale. At least in the modern, idyllic sense of the word. Unless, of course, we all bought into my private fairy tale paradigm, which takes not just princesses (grittier, more knowing), but also sweet-tooth witches and breadcrumbs and threadbare slippers into account. And repurposes glinting armor and pin feathers into something a little more useful. Like a ’56 Thunderbird with porthole windows (which this vintage truck is not and has not. That doesn’t matter. Porthole Thunderbirds are my favorite; I feel driven to mention them).
In the moment, still not quite caught up with daily living (escaping goats!! errant chickens!! evil squash bugs!!), this is all I can say about Nola’s wedding for now (isn’t Nola a great name for an apple cheeked girl in a fedora?). Even if I were caught up after a week at home, I’m convinced words would evade me. Speechlessly, I love weddings (I love funerals too, but that’s not germane to this post). So. I will just leave a couple of teaser photos laying around here until I can muster better verbiage (which word makes me think of fromage…but sharper, more persistent? another extraneous tangent). You can see I’m fumbling. And shouldn’t be left to my own devices with a keyboard. So adieu. Til later.
Isn’t she lovely?

I love the pictures and description of our party. I would like copies of everyone’s pictures. I think Nola and John would like some also. Hope you bring them all to the coast. love you Mother.
Love you too.
I love the pictures and your description of the wedding. Wish I could have and I should have been there.
It would have been lovely lovely to have your company there Merribeth. You are still held in the highest regard, even though you didn’t come. No dashed expectations that I know of. (=
Looks storybook!
But your stories are the best…love your way with words,
Deb

Thank you Deb. There were very pretty moments, and chaotic moments. Which makes for great stories…thank you for visiting.
YAY! How wonderful! I have been so excited to see the dress and to hear about the wedding :)Nola is the perfect bride name, especially for a bride in a fedora. I can tell I love her style- truck, hat, all of it. Unfussy and fun.

I know, right? I love her name. My grandma’s name. I love her style too.
Oh how lovely!! You have the most photogenic family Lynaea! And I love your quirky, artistic style (that judging from your sister & your daughters, must be genetic). Can’t wait to see & read more about such a special event!!

Yes Nola is very photogenic…and she is uniquely quirky for sure. While she didn’t have huge expectations for her wedding celebration, she definitely wanted different.
