Saturday Updates: skirt refashion Etc.

Last Saturday I promised myself (and you) a skirt refashion.  From a thrift store find.

I’m on it, but not quite finished yet.  Super close… just need to hem (blindly) and tack (embellishments).  I refashioned a top to go with (bonus!).   Here’s a peek at my progress:

I’m loving the skirt’s fabric, and was very pleased at how the shape came together.   More about that Monday.  Hmm.  Or Tuesday.  (=  No, Monday.  Yes.

Here are some more teasers of pretty things coming next week:

Also this week (and here’s my excuse for not quite finishing my refashioned thrift skirt),  I started painting again.  Both walls, and canvas.  It’s been way too long since I’ve oil painted consistently.  Finding my groove again has been frustrating.  I’m having to remember, having to rediscover hidden passages and secret doors back into the most inspired corners of my right brain.  Sigh.  But anyway, I’m back at it.

Here’s a little bit of whimsy…just playing with paint and canvas.

And as for painting walls…I am, witness this, committed to painting/decorating three bedrooms (my kids’)—on a budget (!!!!) by….hmm.  January 21st.  Yep.  Sounds good.  I’m hoping that if my adorable, beloved, wonderful kids like their own spaces—if their rooms are a refuge and a comfort to them—that they’ll take more ownership in the upkeep.  No joke.  I am desperately earnest.  Surely my Great Plan will work.

Here’s a peek at what was going on in Nora and Maurya’s room for the last couple of days. Wall painting.

It’ll look way better when it’s done.

Last, there has to be pics of my Saturday morning walk

Frank went with me.  So it was Our Saturday Morning Walk.  In the cold.  Without matching gloves for Frank (there were none to be had in the hall closet…that fit him anyway).   Bless his heart.

This cool farm…thingamajig hanging on a wire caught our eye.  Sometimes rust is cool.

My favorite tree ornaments are nature made.  Beautiful.

Dead, dead leaves are beautiful too.

remains of the day

The Remains of the Day???  Yikes!  Who puts dirty dishes on their blogs!  Well, me, I guess.  Next week, I’ll tell you about it…whole grain pancakes made with quinoa and black rice, topped with blueberries straight from The Blues Berry Farm in Oregon (that would be my mother’s berries…frozen)

And that, friends, is The End.  Adios.  I’ll see you Monday.  In a skirt (at least, I’ll be in a skirt…)
