December First! This scene is so typical in my town (already, again)…and yet…I was tickled to encounter it this morning. Maybe it was the invigorating walk…the cool fresh air. Or maybe it was my childhood tugging at my sleeve.
I don’t think I will ever stop being surprised and entranced by trees. Another favorite metaphor…

Hustling the Sports Page…I watched this neighbor hurry across the street, pop open the mailbox, tear into the newspaper, and read the sports page, right there on the side of the (40-50mph) road. Begged him for a quick photo. He obliged, a little (or maybe a lot) surprised.
