A Green Smoothie with Orange Julius elements... nuanced with hints of cinnamon.

Ingredients

  • 4 or 5 Handfuls fresh spinach leaves
  • 6 to 8 dried plums or prunes
  • about 12ice cubes
  • 3 tablespoons frozen orange juice concentrate (or juice from a large lemon + 2 TBS agave or honey)
  • 8oz almond milk
  • 1/4 cup Greek yogurt, (I prefer Greek yogurt with fat. I don't think cream is such a bad thing.)
  • double dashcinnamon
  • 1/2 Tsp vanilla extract (or use vanilla bean)
  • 1 Tablespoon honey or agave (this is optional, for those who like smoothies especially sweet)

Directions

This is literally a one step recipe. Throw all the ingredients in a powerful blender, making sure some of the heavier ingredients fall to the bottom so they'll fly around, whacking stray spinach leaves and dried plums alike...which facilitates better blending. Blend til it is SMOOTH. A chunky green smoothie can cure some people of ever trying one again. If you don't like using fruit juice concentrate, notice that you can change the recipe slightly by squeezing all the juice from a lemon into the blender and using extra sweetener. This will be a little more sweet-tart than the orange juice, but I really like it.

Enjoy!
