About EveryDay Bloom

Love is anterior to life posterior to death, initial of creation, and the exponent of breath.

Glory be to God for dappled things…

…All things counter, original, spare, strange;

Whatever is fickle, freckled (who knows how?)

With swift, slow; sweet, sour; adazzle, dim;

He fathers-forth whose beauty is past change:

Praise him.

—Gerard Manley Hopkins

EveryDay Bloom began as a lifestyle blog… celebrating the homemade, the repurposed, the done it ourselves.   I created it wanting to inspire, hoping it would be beautiful.

Ah, Beautiful.  Hmm.

Time passed.  I abandoned my blog for a while, feeling disenchanted with my expectations, both of my blog, and of my many (largely unfinished) projects.  And other things.  But I missed writing.  I missed telling stories.  And I find I still want to share whatever beauty I can discover or create.  I may be nonsensical in my breadth and depth of projects, but I must have at least a couple.  Creating things feeds my soul.  So now, this blog will be a record, a tale told in passing snippets– of life however it comes, or whatever I can make of it.  Like a journal, with doodles.   I’m hoping it will eventually culminate in proof of goodness amidst the tangle of life’s less than glamorous reality.  Proof I crave for myself and my children, and other dearly beloveds.

“…Love in the open hand, no thing but that,

ungemmed, unhidden, wishing not to hurt,

As one should bring you cowslips in a hat

Swung from the hand, or apples in her skirt,

I bring you, calling out as children do:

‘Look what I have!

–And these are all for you!’ ”

(Edna St. Vincent Millay)
