A Rose By Any Other Name

A Rose By Any Other Name Would Still Smell As Sweet.

not bumping there ChugChug and the non-bump

So Shakespeare (maestro of love stories and sonnets) tells us.  Well Will, what do you think of “Chug”?  How sweet is that?

Meet my niece Chandler and her lover Doug.  (Hint: Chandler + Doug= Chug).  Married last summer, both unconventionally conventional (she: an Emily Dickinson epiphany,  he: J. Alfred Prufrock meets Steve Jobs).  Their couple name (per a wanky family tradition of new couple christenings on his side) is a catchy blend, I think. And, let me be quick to announce: They’re not pregnant. Doug thought it would be edgy to mislead innocent bystanders into admiring a non-existent baby bump.

Chug, so new to the world, already has great stories.  About contrasting interpretations  of dandelion infestations, for instance, or whether a motorcycle might expedite lawn mowing.  Which is important; stories are proof of existence.  Proof of lots of things.  By the time you’ve met someone and mutually decided to marry, there is at least one awesome story behind you.  A shared one.  And more to come.  Happening all the time, more stories…more proof.  Not just of  existence, but also of  connection.  And further connection when we share them.

Which, I believe, is why we exist.  To connect.  Love.  Be loved.  Share, impact—be impacted.

I thought, with this post, I’d share a link to the stories Chandler is sharing lately.  Sweet smelling roses being metaphorical, these are pithy, funny stories.  Mostly Chug stories.  She tells them very well.    They make me laugh, make me wonder and think (how much water could fifty-five elephants drink?).  They inspire me to listen more, and share more. She tells them here, at Love The Lemons.

Read one, or two.  And then…share your own.  Offer proof of existence, connect.

I Exist, my story is that the wind blew our satellite off course and our computer conversations stopped. I have also been very busy….heating the pavement from here to there. Grandma is now with Barry and Marlene…much to her confusion. they say she is doing well as of yesterday when she arrived. (They put her in an assisted living home for a couple of days while they partied with visiting children and grandchildren.
Love your posts and of course the pictures bring back pleasant feelings from a lovely family reunion. Laughing is good for the soul. Thank you for sharing the pictures. Love Mom

You have a satellite? And the wind reached it? I have so many claims to fame, through you. I will call you, to make sure you’re still existing. Love you, Mom.

Seriously, LMAO about the fake pregnancy bit. If truth be told, I’m tired of seeing that same old tired picture of the hubs at the belly. Love that someone is having a bit of fine about it!

Me too. Doug and Chandler love to mock conventions… with Chandler in the mix, it stays sweet.

“stories are proof of existence” I want that on a t-shirt. I adore your writing style, & not just because it is a pleasure to read– it inspires me to try a bit harder too. What a perfect way to sum up life & a great tribute to what it is to love {& be loved}.
